The vine (grapevine) arrived in the Mediterranean as early as 600 b.C.. The Phoenicians and the Romans made it known in France, Italy and Germany. The variety “Italia” was obtained by a distinguished geneticist Alberto Pirovano, that got this quality crossing two varieties of vines, Bicane and black muskat (muscat from Hamburg). A good-looking selection, characterized by large bunches, consistent and very resistant of a beautiful golden yellow colour and a pleasant mild flavour of muscat, immediately had a good response among populations. It contains about 60 calories per 100 grams, it is a caloric value fruit composed of simple sugars very digestible, but with a low satiating power. It has energy effects, remineralizing, detoxifying and refreshing.
